12th September 2010 The Pony Club held their autumn One Day Event of the year on Sunday 12th September at Oatlands, Santon, (kind permission of Mr & Mrs David Shacklock). This year the event was very kindly sponsored by HSBC who provided fabulous rosettes and sashes for the winners and also a super new winners podium for use by the club. There was an excellent entry and with perfect weather and ground conditions the event proved to be a great success with plenty of action in the cross country section providing interesting watching for the quite significant number of spectators. It was most encouraging to see the junior classes so well filled. The cross country course was beautifully presented for the event by Gill Shacklock, with lots of interesting additions especially for this event. 15th August 2010 What a difference the weather makes! Everyone enjoyed a very stress free and laid back day out in the sunshine at the Pony Club gymkhana held at Oatlands, Santon (kind permission of Mr & Mrs D Shacklock) on Sunday 15th August. There were classes for all age groups - the youngest being 3 years old and it was great fun watching all the older girls enjoying competing in the mounted games competitions! Most had been previous Prince Philip Cup Games team members and although now on horses it was obvious that they hadn't lost their skills. The results for the day were as follows:- Showjumping:- Bunnyhop 55cm 65cm 75cm 85cm 95cm Mounted Games Group C Group D Group E Handy Pony Group B The committee would like to thank Jean, Alli and Jilly for organizing the Handy Pony and also Miles for taking over the thank less task of traffic control. We wish Arthur Taggart our usual traffic controller a speedy recovery. The next Club event will be a Mini ODE at the Glebe, St Markson Saturday 21st August at 10.00am. This event is aimed at younger members who have not competed in a proper One Day Event. This will be followed on Sunday 22nd August by an open event (open to non members) which will be a Hunter Trial at Oatlands, Santon.

24th July 2010 The Pony Club Prince Philip Cup Games Team of Katie Robinson, Heidi Callin, Breeshey Evans, Phoebe Cross, Rio Hall and Isla Curphey held a fundraising event at the weekend at Sunnycroft, Rhendhoo Road, Jurby (kind permission of Mike and Julie Hall). The girls organised the whole event to help fund their recent trips to England. The event was aimed at the under 12's and had the theme Under the Sea' . There were fancy dress classes, fun showing classes and Under the Sea' Mounted Games. Jess Cross judged the fancy dress and Clare Drewry did an excellent job judging the showing which was no easy task! Phoebe Cross who damaged her knee recently whilst at Lanark with the team, judged the games from her wheel chair. There was an excellent entry and all the young riders seemed to really enjoy the event. The next Pony Club events will be on 15th August at Oatlands , Santon (kind permission of Mr & Mrs D Shacklock) There will be a Cross Country Green Day 10.30am & 11.30am sessions and this will be followed at 1.00pm by a traditional Gymkhana (games and showjumping) . Both events are open to non members. The following weekend on Saturday 21st August Mini One Day Event at The Glebe (members only) and on Sunday 22nd August Hunter Trial at Oatlands, Santon (open to non-members) |

20th June 2010 Bathed in beautiful sunshine at Oatlands, Santon (kind permission of Mr & Mrs D. Shacklock), the Pony Club held a novelty event aimed at younger members - this was a Medieval Fun Show. Everything throughout the day had a Medieval theme the mounted games where swords were drawn and dragons slayed' , hobby horse games, castle racing, and a very scary Medieval Handy Pony competition! The event was a fundraiser to offset expenses when members go off island to compete and the games were organized and run by the Prince Philip Cup games team and the castle racing and clear round jumping were all organized and run by the senior members who are going to England in July to represent the Club in various disciplines. As the weather was kind to us there was an excellent turnout of members and the Fancy Dress classes were extremely hotly contested there were some amazing costumes and judge Gill Shacklock had a difficult task in selecting the winners in each class which were as follows:- Fancy Dress :- Under 5 on 1st Jan 2010 Under 8 on 1st Jan 2010 Over 8 Mounted Games:- Lead Rein (a) Lead Rein (b ) Lead Rein (c) 10 & Under Under 14 Handy Pony Under 14 : Castle Racing Lead Rein: Under 10 Under 14 The committee would like to thank Gill Shacklock for the use of the land and also for judging the Fancy Dress, Peter Bond for his light hearted and humorous commentary throughout the day and also Arthur Taggart for once again undertaking the unenviable task of traffic management. 12th June 2010 The Pony Club held a games competition in perfect weather on Sunday afternoon 12 th June at Kennaa Equestrian Centre. There was some fierce competition, especially in the Lead Rein section and that was just the leaders! However it was most enjoyable afternoon both for the members and the spectators as organizers Chris Chatel and Jane Cross always produce a very well run event. The Pony Club held a very successful Prince Philip Cup Games competition at Kennaa Equestrian Centre on Sunday 13th March. This activity within the Pony Club is extremely popular and the big entry of very young members bodes well for future teams. Chris Chatel is the Club's Prince Philip Cup team trainer and as usual put on a safe and very well organized event. The results were as follows:- Lead Rein (Mini) Lead Rein First Ridden 12 & Under 14 & Under There will be another games competition for members on the Wednesday 14th April at 6.00pm PROMPT at Kennaa. Entries on the night at 5.30pm. |
