One of the Talent Team members lost their Mavic Cosmos wheels shod with Schwalbe tyres at the recent Youth Tour. Should anyone have any information please contact Ollie so the wheels can be returned to their owner. Also a pair of shades and warm up rollers were left behind

Andrew Fenn Wins Youth Tour

Dolan RT rider Andrew Fenn was the overall winner of the Youth Tour.

The Olympic Academy rider gained the upper hand with a lone victory on the tough 65 mile second stage after breaking clear on the penultimate lap of the 11 lap event. Second place went to Luke Rowe (Rapha Condor/ Recycling) who pushed Junior series leader Erick Rowsell (Team Corridori) into third on the final stage at Ramsey where Rowe won the bunch sprint, and all important time bonuses, after being away for most of the race with Alex Paton (Active Cycles). Fourth overall was first year junior Alex King (GWR Team / Scott Wilson / Giant) and another first year junior Tim Kennaugh (Team Isle of Man) in fifth. Another GWR Team / Scott Wilson / Giant rider, Peter Dibben was sixth.

Sam Harrison (Wales) won the Youth A race from Simon Yates (BC North West) and Ben Dunn (BC East Midlands) was third. Hannah Barnes (East Midlands) won the Youth A girls competition from Welsh rider Ruby Millar and Lucy Garner Leicestershire RC was the top Youth B girls rider. John Dibben (BC South East) won the Youth B race from Jacob Reagan (Eastlands Velo) . Charlie Tanfield (Cleveland Whs) took the Youth C race in fine style from Billy Harding (East Bradford CC) with Daniel Fox (Solihull CC) in third and Megan Barker (Maindy Flyers) was leading girl.

Youth Tour Ready to Go

The Isle of Man Youth and Junior Tour commences tonight with a prologue time trial on Douglas promenade. Solihull CC rider Daniel Fox will lead the 200 plus field off at 7pm. The Juniors compete on a tough 100km course in the Peel area on Saturday morning with the Youth riders racing at Marown on Saturday afternoon. The event concludes with a Kermesse on Ramsey promenade where there will also be BMX racing.

The Junior race is the third counting round of the season long National Junior Road Series. All eyes will be on winner of round one Erick Rowsell and round two winner, the Isle of Man's Tim Kennaugh, other contenders include recent Junior Paris Roubaix winner Andrew Fenn, Tour of Worcester winner Luke Rowe plus star riders such as Mark Christian, Chris Whorrall, Dan McLay, George Atkins, Alex King and Andrew Williams. There is also the strong Dutch Sinnigebouw Wieler / Sleepwell Hotels Team to be considered as potential winners.

The Youth A event will be just as competitive with local rider Chris Nicholson plus Lewis Balyckli, Josh Papworth and Sam Harris being the ones to watch.

Mark Cavendish Signed Jersey

Isle of Man rider Mark Cavendish has kindly donated a signed jersey for the Youth Tour. The Team High Road fast man is a keen supporter of the Youth Tour. The signed Team High Road jersey will be presented to the winner of a competition that will take place on Sunday evening at the prize presentation and disco. Every person present, be they competitors, marshals, parents or team managers will have a chance to win!

Tickets for the presentation and disco are free to competitors and marshals (Adult non competitors £6.50 non competing children under 16 years £3) Please email Tina to book your tickets. Tickets will be issued on a first come first served so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Sunday Night is Party Night!!

The prize Presentation and Disco Extravaganza will take place at the impressive Villa Marina on Douglas promenade on Sunday evening (May 4). The Villa is now famous as the venue of many rock concerts due to it's impressive sound and lighting system. Mark Burrows one of the Islands leading music presenters will be on hand to provide the beat whereas two of the Isle of Man's top sporting presenters, Dot Tilbury MBE and Manx Radio's Tim Glover will compare the awards ceremony.

Invitational BMX Race Event

As part of the Youth Tour event there will be an invitational BMX race on Sunday May 4. The final Kermesse stage of the Youth Tour starts and finishes within metres of the BMX track.

The event is open to all age groups and entries can be taken on the line during registration which commences from 11.45am with racing at 12.30pm. Entries cost £3 per rider

Bank Holiday King of the Mountains

The 2008 King of the Mountains event is a road-cycling challenge around the Isle of Man. It utilises SportIdent electronic timing to provide proof of vist at around 10 control points around the demanding but enjoyable course. Unlike other cycle-sportif events, however, it has a unique feature - that if being able to take optional rest breaks at 2 intermediate cafe-stops around the course. This is achieved by using separate check-in and check-out control boxes at these locations. The May Bank Holday weekend also plays host to the popular "Youth Tour" on the Isle of Man. Many supporters as well as participants may be visiting the Island over the weekend and the KOTM may provide an ideal challenge at the end of the Youth Tour, which finishes on Sunday. Website

Champion Systems Provide Youth Tour Jerseys

Race leader and points jerseys are to be provided by Champion Systems who provide jerseys for events such as the Tour of Langkawi . Champion Systems will also be sponsoring the Points competition.

Dutch Team Sign Up

Organisers say this years Sleepwell Hotels Isle of Man Youth Tour is set to be another fantastic event, as entries still continue to flood in. The most interesting entry so far has been from the Dutch Sinnigebouw Wielerteam, who have previously supported top Junior riders such as Pim Ligtht, Jetse Bol & Roy Peiters. The team of four Juniors is yet to be named, however is thought to be a strong squad as in previous years. Organisers are also in talks with two other top European teams which they hope to confirm in the coming weeks.

Organisers are also pleased to announce that a new timing system will be used for 2008, which has been specifically designed for the Youth Tour and will enable a speedy results facility.

Former Youth Tour competitor Pim Lithgard (Holland) won the Points race at the Denmark round of the World Cup. Britains Chris Newton took bronze to seal the overall competition

Youth Tour Latest

Accommodation places are filling up fast, Isle of Man Travel Services, who are handling the Youth Tour accommodation this year have confirmed that both the Rutland and Chesterhouse hotels are full to capacity, however, further accommodation has been sourced but please don't leave it to the last minutes

Plans for the Gala Prize Presentation are progressing well, we will have more information on this shortly. The presentation will take place in the Island's number one venue, The Villa Marina. Please ensure you book tickets in advance to secure a place.

Massive Interest at Revolution

There was an enormous amount of interest at the Youth Tour stand at the Revolution on Saturday evening. The Youth Tour representatives worked flat out from when the doors opened untill the final event.

Entries Coming Fast

Entries are now coming in thick and fast for this year's Youth Tour, please enter as soon as possible to avoid dissapointment. Last year so 40 entries were returned due to the Youth A and Junior categories being oversubscribed.

Welcome to the 2008 Youth Tour

Since it's inception back in 2004 the Youth Tour has grown to become Britain's premier Junior and Youth stage race! Past winners such as Mark McNally, Jonny Bellis and Peter Kennaugh have gone on to win World, European and British titles.

New Format

The Youth Tour format has slightly changed from 2007. Organisers have reduced the event from four stages to three. The final stage on Sunday May 4 will be on a new course at Ramsey where the race will form part of a carnival. The Ramsey Kermesse course will be large enough to enable more competitors to take part, organisers had to return 40 entries from the 2007 event due to over subscribed entries. Please note that there are no D and E category events in 2008, however there will be a BMX event at Ramsey in conjunction with the road event
