Curriculum Vitae Personal Details
Performance Experience RADIO I have worked for Manx Radio on both advertisements and their drama series Mutiny upon the Bounty. I have also been interviewed as director of Terry Pratchett's 'Wyrd Sisters' for a feature on the Gaiety Theatre. FILM I played 'Linda' in the short film, 'Sunday, Bloody Sunday', which was directed by Jim Edge and entered into a 24 hour gorilla film festival and 'Red' in the short film 'The Millennium Bug', which was produced by Douglas Films. I recently had the opportunity to work as a stand in for Dame Maggie Smith and Kristen Scott Thomas on the film 'Keeping Mum'. Since 1988, when I was featured in the Manx Museum's film, The Story of Mann, I have appeared in many films and television programs as both an extra and a featured artist. THEATRE I have appeared in 32 full length plays and 8 one act plays, in roles ranging from June Buckridge (Sister George) in 'The Killing of Sister George' to Dr Scott in 'Who's life is it anyway?' My latest role as the political internee Erna Nelki in 'Wire and Wool' was extremely challenging, but, brought with it the reward of knowing that this strong and passionate woman will never be forgotten. Whilst I am very proud to have won awards for both best supporting actor and best performance, I have found that every play has provided me with new skills and a wider knowledge of the techniques required for almost any type of production. VICTORIAN MUSIC HALL The Criterion Victorian Music Hall Company tours the Isle of Man putting on shows in the style of the 'Good Old Days' television show. We have performed in many venues throughout the Island and the programme changes regularly. During my association with the company, I have performed many acts including songs such as My Mother's Advice, Waiting at the Church, The Man who broke the Bank at Monte Carlo and Champagne Charlie and sketches such as Maria Martin (or Murder in the Red Barn) and A Drunkard's Dilemma. STREET PERFORMANCE As a member of the professional street theatre group Possan Straiddey, I regularly appeared in the role of Liban in the Mummers Play, which forms part of the troop's show. I was also the narrator for the troop's production of the Manx Christmas Play and Prudence in the Mid-Summer Madness play. Technical Experience FILM I was the Video Assist Operator on the Oliver Parker film, 'Fade to Black' and stand in for Dame Maggie Smith and Kristen Scott Thomas on the film 'Keeping Mum'. I also have camera experience using my own Canon XL2 (2005). THEATRE I have technical experience as a backstage team member, prompt, properties, assistant stage manager and stage manager for one act plays, full length plays, play festivals and musicals. I can also produce paint effects such as marble, rust, damp, vegetation, stone walls and wooden paneling. |
