Background Information

What is the REC?

The Club was formed in 1954 by the late Mr T B Collinge, with the official approval of the Ribble Motor Services Ltd., to record details of the Ribble and Standerwick, fleets and those of the joint operators.

The present day Club provides information concerning the current events taking place in the major and minor operators fleets within the North West, which is contained in our monthly Bulletin. It also provides historical information to members, via the Bulletin, publications and individual queries,

News Bulletin

A monthly illustrated Bulletin is published which comprises:
The Editorial - Containing all the latest Club Notices, Club merchandise sales, transport related articles, visit and tour reports, members letters and advertisements.
Vehicle and Service News - Listing all the changes taking place in the North West bus fleets including: Stagecoach Northwest; Stagecoach Manchester; Blazefield; Arriva; First Group; the former Municipal Operators as well as many of the independent operators.
Archivews - A look back at Ribble and associated operators of the past.

Visits and Tours

These are arranged to take place throughout the year and include visits and tours to operators, garages, coachbuilders, museums and other places of interest. The tours are arranged to use both modern day and preserved vehicles.

Sales and Publications

The Sales Department sells any item of a transport related nature. Many items have been donated by members but new items are also for sale such as Club badges; ties; polo shirts; pens; etc. Also sold are various publications produced by the Club such as fleet lists; allocation lists; destination blind lists and a sales list is distributed periodically. Various rallies and events are also attended each year.
