The Isle of Man International Go Congress has become a regular and popular fixture in the BGA and European Go Calendar. It is a congress which combines competitive Go with many friendly tournaments and social activities in a relaxed environment.

The Congress dates are from Sunday 17 August to Friday 22 August 2008. The congress consists of three tournaments; the Main, Afternoon and Handicap tournaments. The Main, held every morning is a 5-game McMahon, with 90 minutes for each player with 20 moves in 5 minutes overtime. The Sunday-Tuesday Afternoon tournament is a 5 round McMahon with 60 minutes each and 20 stones in 5 minutes overtime. The Handicap Tournament, played on Thursday and Friday afternoons, will use the legendary 'Manx Handicap System' and has 6 rounds, and sudden death time limits of 30 minutes each.

Please note that the congress dates and location have been changed, because the former venue, The Ocean Castle Hotel, has announced that it will be closing shortly.

In addition there will be social and Go activities every evening. The tournament room will be available throughout the week for anyone to play Go in.
