February 2011
Winter contests came and went  with no participation this year.  With 12 metres open in daylight hours most activity has been on 17, 15 and 12 metres with brief spells on 10.

July 2010
EB1BSV dropped by for a few hours while on a non-ham vacation on the island.  Operation on HF resulted in a 20 metre pileup with the MD/EB1BSV callsign. Julio returned in December but only managed a few hours activity in the shack

July 2010
Additional photographs have been uploaded to the IMAGE section of the site.  New information on 60 metres and 4 metres operation has also been added.

June 2010
The opportunity was taken in fine weather to replace all the guys on the main tower and prepare for another summer of tests on SteppIR yagi variations.

April 2010
Yagi antennas were installed for 4 metres (70.000-70.500 MHz).  The propagation on Es is similar to 50 MHz but there are enough differences to make this band interesting.  Best DX so far is SV running just  25 watts.

November 2009
The IRC with the image of two hands is no good any longer.  The post office will not exchange them for stamps.  The new IRC is called the Nairobi model and many QSL requests have it enclosed.  Please only send this new IRC from November 2009.

November
Tom GM4FDM and Ron PA3EWP were on-air in early November for two days as GD4FDM and MD/PA3EWP on SSB, CW and RTTY.  They enjoyed a guided tour of all the tourist attractions and still made time for over 2000 QSOs.

October 2009
Bob K4UEE and Roger G3SXW operated from the station during a brief visit to the Isle of Man in early October following the very successful RSGB Convention in the UK.  Bob added GD as entity number102 in his quest to visit the world.

August 2009
Useful information was obtained in tests of the new 7 element SteppIR beam on the 12, 10 and 6 metres bands where the extra elements are active. The comparison with a stack of 5 element M-squared yagis showed performance as predicted.  More work will be done after the winter storms.

June 2009
Activity over the last two months mostly on 20 and 17 metres  has produced a mountain of QSL cards.  They are being answered as quickly as possible.  More work is being done on the Enhanced SteppIR yagi designs.

February 2009
The station is back on-air with HF beam and wire loop antennas.  There are no plans for major activities before the summer weather.  All QSL cards that arrived before the end of January have been answered.

December 2008
Many delays to house  renovations plus an illness that required surgery cut back the work on the antennas and station over the last six months.  Also the QSL cards direct replies got delayed from August until December.

Now that the problems with vision are reduced it is hoped to complete the work and get back on-air soon with the new HF beam and some wire antennas for the lower bands

June 2008
A complete station overhaul commenced in mid-June with tower and antenna work.  Further work in the shack plus house renovations means the station is expected to be off-air for about 8 weeks. Activity on  6 metres is not affected and many DX QSOs have been made so far using 100 watts SSB to Asia and Africa plus North and Central America.

March 2008
The cost of return postage was increased again and the special rate for Europe has stopped.  It is one IRC or 2 US Dollar bills now for everyone anywhere.

March 2008
Pete K8PT and Craig K3PLV operated from the GD6IA shack during 19 through 21 March using MD/K8PT  and MD/K3PLV.  This was their first trip to Isle of Man and the weather was a mixture of hail,. rain, sun and strong winds!
