EVNPA
SUMMER SHOW JUNE 26, 2005

The EVNPA summer show 2005 will be remembered for the glorious weather and the mouth watering aromas emanating from the Manx Carvery! With a full range of affiliated, M & M and Family classes judging started at 8.30 in the morning. the first championship of the day was awarded to Anna Collier's home bred mare, Close Lake Sheer Elegance with Irish Mist in reserve. A true family pony, Conrhenny Bushbaby, bred by Michelle Hargreaves and ridden by each member of the Cox family in turn was the well deserved Family section champion. The Mountain and Moorland sections were dominated by the welsh breeds with Bethan Fennel's lovely roan section A, Rosmarche Red Bartsia taking the in hand small championship and Dora Mendzil's black mare, Llanfyllin Hannah securing the Large championship with John Watterson's evergreen Seiont Arwyn reserve. Small ridden champion was Georgia Nicholl's snowy white Blaenau Planet with Sam Corlett's Montique Charioteer improving on his Spring Show result by taking the large breeds ridden championship. He then went on to stand reserve supreme to Georgia's mum, Jo with her elegant riding horse, Harry Hayhurst from a tremendously strong supreme line up. Good luck to all the competitors who qualified for the Ponies UK show next month.

WORKING HUNTER & FAMILY SHOW

  SUNDAY JULY 24TH, 2005

The EVNPA held their first Working Hunter Show at Lough Mallow Farm recently by kind permission of Mr O Lowery. Using the newly purchased Working Hunter jumps for the first time, Sam Babb and Alex Mallard built an inviting course which jumped well. Restricted Champion was Jeanette Crennell with her lovely new horse Pinky with whom she was justifiably tickled pink! Reserve went to Yasmin Ingham with her palomino welsh section A gelding, Cedar Falls who jumped brilliantly and won all 3 of their classes. The course continued to jump well as the fences were raised with Lesley Ingham and the Poacher taking the Intermediate class and Jane Maska with Blind Ambition who is currently for sale taking the Open. Connemaras dominated the large Mountain and Moorland class with Village Paddy II and Jo Standish securing first place over Rachel Ranson's joyful veteran Smokey Power Failure. Freddie as he is known at home is a former Connemara Pony Society Points champion who loves his jumping and both these ponies have competed with great success in the UK.

The Family In Hand section had tremendous entries and the standard was so high that the championship was divided into horses and ponies. Angie Goody's cheerful cob, Blue Boy got the nod over Michaela Wyer's handsome shire cross, Dan whilst Churchwood Megan and Matthew Moore competing at his first show took the pony championship with Rachel and Lewis Exon's Cheeky Chester reserve.

Ridden competitors were greeted with obstacles to bend through and toys to place into buckets amongst other things devised by their judge! Champion was Jeanette Crennell's Pinky who really caught the Judge's eye, with the attractive well mannered mare, Measham So Fair ridden by Anna Watterson in reserve.

EVNPA COMBINED TRAINING & DRESSAGE

JULY 30, 2005

The Ellan Vannin Native Pony Association held a combined training and Dressage Competition on Saturday, July 30th which was well attended despite disruptions caused by the Manx rally. Sisters Charlotte and Catharine Barham won 3 classes between them whilst Karen Wilcock riding Mac won both the Novice and Elementary classes. Sam Babb had constructed a lovely course for the combined training which competitors thoroughly enjoyed jumping. Jump judge, Jane Watney did an excellent job of keeping score whilst Charlotte Barham proved to be an absolute whizz on the calculator and can add up a dressage test within seconds!

The Association's next event is a Working Hunter and Family show to be held on Saturday, September 10th. The show will include a Versatility Section where competitors compete in one Working Hunter class, one Family Horse or Pony class and ride a Dressage test. Points amassed will decide the winners of each section - Small Mountain & Moorland, Large Mountain and Moorland and EVNPA members with Non Native breeds and there will be special rosettes and trophies to be won..

ELLAN VANNIN NATIVE PONY ASSOCIATION

WORKING HUNTER AND FAMILY SHOW, SEPT 10TH, 2005

The Ellan Vannin Native Pony Association held a very busy Working Hunter show on September 10th. Large entries resulted in a longer day than usual, but most competitors stayed the course. Ponies UK panel judge, Hilary Morris was kept extremely busy all day but had no hesitation in selecting Voirrey O Neill's handsome black gelding Middleman as her champion with Jeanette Crennell's Pinky in reserve. Novice Working Hunter Champion was Caitriona Cox riding Cusop Biggles with her sister, Sosanna riding Conrhenny Bushbaby reserve. A new innovation at this show was the Versatility section with entrants required to compete in one working hunter class, a family horse or pony class and to ride a dressage test. Divided into four categories this event proved to be extremely popular and in consequence there was some delay with the family ridden classes. Laura Callow very kindly stepped in and judged the remaining classes for us and we are very grateful to her for helping us out! Jeanette Crennell and Pinky achieved the maximum score of 300 points to win the Novice section whilst Lisa Nixon and her welsh cob mare, Derwen Renatta won the large Mountain and Moorland section with 290. Catharine Barham took the Non Native class, also with 290 points and was rewarded with a Polypads numnah for achieving the highest dressage score of the day. Yasmin Ingham won the M & M small breeds which had the largest entry and was very hotly contested. In hand pony champions were Sammy Cattle and Blackie with Becci Owen and Mary Bell's lovely mare Gypsy taking the horse championship.
