BOOT CAMP 2012
Boot-camp 2012 will be held over the Tynwald extended bank holiday Friday 6 th July- Sunday 7 th July, at Kennaa.
In previous years “campers” have so enjoyed camp, most of them have put their names down for the following years camp. With limited space on camp we have decided that this year, places will be offered first to those who have never been on camp, followed by those who have been on camp the once etc etc. Hopefully this will give new faces the chance to enjoy the “boot-camp experience”
We will meet at Kennaa on the Thursday evening to strip off the paddocks that will have been allocated, bed down the stables and make the club house into our bedroom come home for the next few days!
Friday morning camp starts with the arrival of the “campers and their horses”………it will be all go from then on! Three hours of flat and jumping lessons on each day. There will also be two demonstrations or talks each day.
Camp will be made up of fifteen riders split into three rides. Every effort will be made to have riders of similar ability on each ride. In previous years we have had VERY experienced riders to the not so experienced………everyone is welcome.
Having had our dressage and s.j. Competition on Sunday morning we round off camp with the prize giving and lunch.
Elaine Gordon of Island Saddlery Kirk Michael, very generously sponsors the many prizes to be won on camp.
Kennaa charge £5.00 per night per horse for grazing and £25.00 per night per horse for a stable. Availability of stables will only be known in the week prior to camp, therefore priority will be given in order of stable requests.
If you are interested in joining us, please get this form filled in and returned ASAP with your deposit cheque.
Unfortunately it is not as simple as accepting the first fifteen…as we do have to make up three rides of similar ability. Though obviously the sooner you have your name in the better! Please apply NOW regardless of if you have been on camp before or not.
First cut off for new comers will be the end of January. If the rides are not full, camp will then be opened to those who have been once before etc until we have the fifteen needed to make camp viable.
Cost of camp is £150.00. Please attach £50.00 cheque (non refundable if you are successful) to the application form. Remaining balance of £100.00 to be paid by the end of April.
All deposit cheques will be held until you have successfully secured a place on camp (Hopefully by the end Feb)
INCLUDED in £150.00 cost of camp, six hrs of mounted tuition, all talks and demonstrations, breakfast, lunch. Tea/coffee and cake breaks. (We do a lot of eating on camp!)
NOT INCLUDED, evening meal at the pub, stable/grazing charge, horse bedding, hay and feed….. Or the copious amounts of wine that seem to get drunk in the clubhouse!!
