Call: 10
Date: 14-09-2007 Time: 02:15 - 03:30 Weather:  W 5-6 (pictures the day after 1 - 2 )

Reason:
Launch requested to go to the assistance of a yacht going aground in Port Erin Bay.  The yacht, "Windswept", with 3 persons on-board had broken free from a visitors mooring in the bay and drifted on to rocks by the 'Old Swimming Pool.  The persons on-board were asleep and knew nothing of the incident until the vessel hit the rocks and woke them up. They immediately called 'Mayday' using the VHF radio picked up by Liverpool Coastguard.  The lifeboat launched quickly but on arrival on the scene, discovered the vessel high-and-dry and holed by the sharp rocks.  None of the yacht's crew were injured and were able to step off the vessel to a small beach which was unfortunately cut off from the main beach by the high tide.  As the casualties were not in any immediate danger, the lifeboat crew decide that the best option was to allow Port Erin Coastguard cliff rescue team to assist the persons off the beach via the land side of the incident, therefore not putting lifeboat or crew in danger due to the heavy breaking surf and rocks.  The lifeboat returned to station after confirming all was well with the local coastguard unit and casualties.
